2009 Old Vines COLOMBARD - RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY

The Renaissance of Colombard!

Colombard is a variety originally from the South-West of France where it has been grown for hundreds of years. Yannick made his first Colombard in 1996 in the heart of Gascony. The grapes for Y Rousseau Old Vines Colombard come from the last Colombard vines planted in the Russian River Valley. Yannick chose to make this wine because of its unique character and to bring a slice of Gascony to American wine lovers.
"Yannick decided, after finding a grape variety that he loves, that he simply had to make the wine. His Colombard is one of the finest white wines I have ever tasted." Dan Berger.

2008 CHARDONNAY Milady - MOUNT VEEDER, NAPA VALLEY
This wine is a rare commodity from Mt. Veeder.100% native yeasts fermentation, no malo-lactic fermentation and only 25% new french oak. Distinctly intense and hedonistic aromas of lychee nut and citrus with a pronounced background of mineral, white peach and toasted hazelnut. The 2008 “Milady” is elegant and food-friendly; enjoyable now and will continue to develop its character for at least a decade. 92 points with Wine Enthusiast and Wine & Spirits.
2008 MERLOT Pépé - SONOMA VALLEY, CAVEDALE VINEYARDS
This wine is named after Yannick's grandfather, Pépé, because Merlot is his favorite wine. He used to make it in his garage and share it with all the family. Our Merlot is from the organically farmed Cavedale Vineyards located on the western slopes of Mount Veeder. It's a racy mountain wine with aromas of blueberries, blackberries and sweet spices. It has a bold structure and lingering velvety finish. A stand alone Merlot! It shows a French influence in its Bordeaux-like earthiness and delicacy.
