Born in 1609 in Gascony, near Yannick's hometown in the South-West of France, D'Artagnan's real name was Charles de Batz de Castelmore, Comte d'Artagnan. He was immortalized as the fourth musketeer in Alexandre Dumas' novel "The Three Musketeers". At 18 years of age, he traveled to the court of Louis XIII in Paris. There, he ultimately became the Lieutenant-Captain of the first company of the King's musketeers after years of loyal services and delicate accomplishments. On June 25, 1673, under Louis XIV during the Franco-Dutch war, he was killed in battle at the Siege of Maastrich. Throughout his travels, and over the course of his life, D'Artagnan came to be known as the ambassador of the Gascony lifestyle reaching into the hearts of people along his journeys as a true 'Bon Vivant'. Many years later, Yannick Rousseau is following in his chivalrous footsteps bringing the spirit of a Renaissance of winemaking to America and beyond! "All for Wine, Wine for All!" |
